Ode to 2011 (Black and white and just in time)

Saturday, December 31

Here is an ode to 2011 in pictures.
January: The road trips to law schools began. Chicago, Champaign and Nashville.

February: Parents for the week. With Jeff and Allison off in Mexico, we got little Laynie all to ourselves.
March: After a trip to Lexington and one last trip to Iowa City we made the big decision.
April: Partying, partying yeah! Stacy's bridal shower was simply wonderful.
May: The Look for Less begins!
June: Stacy's chilly but cheery wedding!
July: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 Premiere. Need I say more. Epic.
August: Family vacation. Yes please.
September: Settling in to life in Iowa.
October: The first ever party for one. You know you wish you would have been invited.

November: Ridiculously awesome fall weather.

December: Best Christmas gift ever...Baby honey!
 Happy New Years!

Baby Honey - Sneak Peak

Tuesday, December 20

So since the day I found out my older sis was pregnant with babe #2, I knew I would not be home for his grand arrival. With his due-date annoyingly situated between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I figured making an additional trip home would be unnecessary and simply out of the question.

But when Allie called me the day she went into labor, the six hour drived seemed like merely a "hop, skip and a jump". I begged my husband to let me go, fanatically called friends to cover my work shifts, threw together a weekend bag and blew out of town. Literally....I was home from work at 5:30 and packed and on the road by 5:45. So with just 2 Mountain Dews, a Coke and a little christmas music from Mariah Carey, I was in Michigan before 2am.

And let me tell you, my spontaneous trip was worth it. I was able to see Baby Honey (a.k.a Hudson Jeffery) just minutes after he was born. There is just nothing like that newborn baby smell. I cried immediately and then cried again. Being an aunt is the best. Seriously, the best.

More pictures to come. :)

Saturday Evening in Pictures

Friday Friday

Saturday, December 3

I must confess, Friday night was a decorating fail.

After work, decorating for Christmas lost its appeal and mostly felt overwhelming. So,  instead of "Christmasing" our little home, Nick and I sat on the couch, ate Chinese and watched 8 (yes...you read that right) 8 episodes of Lost. We started at around 6:30pm and finished at 1:30am, only after I convinced Nick that I might die if I got less then 5 hrs of sleep.

Some may call this lazy....I call it awesome.

Instead of continuing to drive to and from Blockbuster to rent our new little addiction, we simply bought the first 3 seasons. For $20 I might add. Bargain? I think so.

On a different note, Chinese takeout makes me insanely happy.
I hope that so far, all of your weekends are much more productive then mine.

Missing You

Friday, September 30

Dear sisters,
I am missing you each very badly.
Katie, I miss your sense of humor and your happy spirit.
Kelli, I miss your stories and everything about Wednesdays.
Hailey, I miss your pep, your laugh and your company.
Allie, I miss your constant encouragement and advice...oh and your baby too!

Hope you are all healthy and happy. Love you.
